Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How does Auto Transport work?
A: Typical customers of Auto Transport are either moving from one state to another or purchased a vehicle online through Ebay or another online car retailer and need their vehicle moved. You, the shipper, need an auto carrier, and that is where AM Express steps in.
Even though you may hear from it’s best to deal directly with the driver, this is usually not your best course of action. Because of our resources and accessability to a drivers record we are able to determine if a carrier is safe, trustworthy, and best suited for your needs.
Q: What kind of Carrier do you use?
A: We work with our customers to match their needs. Most vehicles can easily be transported on an open carrier, similar to the ones you see dealerships using, but in special cases we can arrange transport with a closed carrier — mainly by customer request or because the vehicle has high value.
Q: How long does it take for my vehicle to be transported?
A: After we process your order, it takes between 1 – 7 days to assign a driver to your account.
After a driver has been assigned, the time of transit depends on the distance your vehicle needs to be transported. Vehicles over 2000 miles take 7 to 10 days of transport time, while shorter distances may take as little as 2 days to transport.
Q: How does payment work?
A: As part of AM Express’ commitment to excellent customer service, to enter your vehicle in the process of being assigned to a driver costs you nothing. We only charge a small deposit in the range of $100 to $250 per car when a driver is assigned to your account and your vehicle is in process of being picked up.
This does not change your quoted price.
Other companies may ask for a deposit to just have your vehicle considered for pickup by a driver, which often times leads to confusion and resentment. AM Express does it’s best to insure that you have the best and most comfortable experience possible.
After delivery payment to the driver is made in cash, cashier’s check, or money order to the difference of the deposit from the total quote. For example, if your quote is $499, and the deposit is $150, then payment to the driver will be $349.
Q: How can I check your credentials?
A: AM Express is a licensed and bonded company by the Department of Transportation, our Motor Carrier number is MC#625942.
